Below are a few statistics about the constant need for blood:
**Each blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
**Only 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood and only a fraction of those actually donate.
**On any given day, an average of 38,000 units of red blood cells are needed for patients in the United States.
**Because blood is perishable, new donations are needed every day.
**It is estimated that five million recipients need blood transfusions each year in the United States.
The Need is Constant.
The Gratification is Instant.
